The evolving profile of GP2 team owners

Given the news in the past several months, the profile of GP2 owners has changed a bit. Initially, most were evolutions from F3000 or F3, but gradually the landscape has changed, giving the sport a mix of strong brand names and emerging businessmen:
Some of the names on this list make you think of this transition from “glorified mechanics” evolving to team owners, and now mediatic names arriving to the sport.
The strength of brand names (highlighted in orange) such as Nicolas Todt, René Arnoux, Christian Horner or Alfonso de Orleans (well-known in Spain) is there since the start.
The arrival of Alejandro Agag (if you haven’t heard of him, trust me – you will soon), Tiago Monteiro and Giancarlo Fisichella is undoubtable. Note the very high percentage of “media names” in the late-arriving category.
A trend or a coincidence? Naturally-occurring or pushed by the GP2 gods?
