Jerez Day 2 – morning session: van der Garde is back.

Giedo van der Garde is back, after a day of trials in the UK with Force India, and has come back strong.  With the Barwa car he is on top, over a tenth clear of an impressive Valerio who today is using Valsecchi’s car from yesterday.  Something up with Coloni?  Looking good…  D’Ambrosio stays in the top 5 after changing teams (good sign for a driver), as does Vietoris.  Bianchi not at Jerez today (or tomorrow)… pity.

Sam Bird, still with Dams stays in Top 10.  Oliver Turvey improving a bit.   Marcus Ericsson coming to grips with iSport car, just ahead of Dani Clos with Arden.   Leimer’s first session not great with Ocean, will be interesting to see him head-to-head with Rossi tomorrow.

At the bottom, Jan Charouz pulling a “Sakon Yamamoto” putting the ART car last. Not a great debut for Arabadzhiev with DPR either.  Castellacci with Durango – at least not last today!

interesting, VDG quick with Barwa. If iSport don’t re-sign him I think they may well regret it. Suprised by the lack of pace from Ericsson and Turvey. Bianchi proved yesterday that you should just be able to go quick straight away if you are good. They haven’t been slow by any means but really this is their opportunity to show how good they are and they don’t look like they are doing it this morning.

  2. Fujer says:

well turvey wasnt that fast yesterday either. But its still just the morning times so lets wait and see what Ericsson can do this afternoon. My guess is a top 10 place and tomorrow a top 5 place when he is with ART and got some more running under his wings.

  3. Patrik says:

I also expect Ericsson to be faster as he goes, remember he has never driven the “new” GP2 car the test last year iirc was with the old chassis

He tested 1 day with isport last year , new gp2 car . Wasnt fast , but then again test times doesnt always say much. Addax was very slow at Barcelona tests but dominated there in race.

What worry me about Ericsson , that if he will drive for ART , then his teammate will be mighty Bianchi.
If he goes Isport , the team wasnt really top last year + Turvey is fast driver also.
    Difficult choice.

  5. Tap says:

Do you think isport has lost something? I would say their drivers were not up to much this year rather than them being slow. VDG got things together later in the season which is when I think he finally got to grips with the car.

ART were not that sharp last year but they were back on form this year. I hope the same happens for iSport.

  6. sauber11 says:

I cant say whos fault it was , i would say both drivers and team.
Isport said , that they struggled with softer compound of tires this year + new engine ( +25 h.p.)Ok ,nothing is perfect except ART.
But how 2 very experienced drivers like Garde and Nunez couldnt solve this trouble for so long i dont know ( its not that they were two youngers like Mortara and Perez).

I believe Isport will be faster in 2010 , but how much? Because its big difference between ART,Addax and others right now.

    • Tap says:

I disagree, I don’t recall iSport ever admitting they were having trouble. I believe Nunes was quick but had bad luck and I believe VDG struggled to adapt to the Bridgestone tyres.

I think tomorrow Senna will be very quick in the iSport car and prove just how quick it is

Its not easy after one year, like Bruno, came and show everybody how to drive a car, this is not possible, its a constant work.
