Abu Dhabi day 2- morning session: Valsecchi again

Times from this morning’s session at Yas Marina (from Italiaracing.net):

1 – Davide Valsecchi – iSport – 1’52″3
2 – Sam Bird – ART – 1’53″1
3 – Luiz Razia – Barwa Addax – 1’53″3
4 – Josef Kral – Super Nova – 1’53″4
5 – Diego Nunes – Meritus – 1’53″8
6 – Johnny Cecotto – Trident – 1’53″9
7 – Max Chilton – Barwa Addax – 1’53″9
8 – Pablo Sanchez – Arden – 1’54″3
9 – Michael Herck – DPR – 1’54″4
10 – Fabio Leimer – Ocean – 1’54″4
11 – Alexander Rossi – Ocean – 1’54″6
12 – Rodolfo Gonzalez – Arden – 1’54″6
13 – Luca Filippi – Meritus – 1’54″8
14 – Christian Vietoris – Dams – 1’54″9
15 – Edoardo Piscopo – Dams – 1’55″2
16 – Marcus Ericsson – ART – 1’55″2
17 – Daniel Zampieri – Piquet GP – 1’55″5
18 – Roldan Rodriguez – PartyPoker Coloni – 1’55″6
19 – Vladimir Arabadhziev – Piquet GP – 1’55″7
20 – James Jakes – Super Nova – 1’55″9
21 – Will Bratt – PartyPoker Coloni – 1’57″6
22 – Plamen Kralev – Trident – 1’59″4

Times dropping slightly again compared to yesterday’s afternoon session.   Not counting Bratt and Kralev (outliers) the time gap between first and “last” is about 3.7 seconds, compared to yesterday at about 2.9 seconds.  Track should be settling in by now, so afternoon times should drop again.

Again, no time from Giacomo Ricci who has obviously not been given the green light by DPR for the test.   Surprising to see Ericsson at the bottom again this morning.  Great times from the Ocean IFM duo and again from Johnny Cecotto, who is impressing in his GP2 Asia debut.

Yeah Ericsson is starting got get me alittle nervous =/ Well i guess its next week thats counts but its never good to be 3 seconds off pace and 2 sec off pace from team mate.

I hope he will bounce back this afternoon and then really nail it next weekend.

Marcus covered only 7 laps, must have been problems with the car.

      Ooh didnt see that =)

Then 1.55 isnt that bad maybe. Lets wait and see for afternoon if they can get the car fixed.

  5. Spudy says:

I think if iSport don’t manage to clinch the signature of Ericsson, Valesecchi has made a very good case for iSport to sign him for Europe instead of the difficult character of Van der Garde whom apparently still wants to take up his 2nd year option.

  6. haho says:

Spudy, what makes you think VD Garde is a difficult character? As far as I heard iSport loved him and he was deemed quick. Valsecchi is doing good in tests at a brand new street circuit, meaning absolutely nothing. Turvey has been average in the iSport car so far and Vd Garde is a lot better. If he does not race for Barwa, ART or Racing Engineering in the Mains this year iSport is the best option. And they should be lucky to have him.

  7. spudy says:

I hear he is very diffuclt to work with. I hear iSport and VDG did not get on. He wants to stay with them but it looks like iSport will see what happens with Ericsson before they decide.
