Why was Bruni allowed to race in GP2?

If I’m not mistaken, only Giorgio Pantano, Antonio Pizzonia and Gianmaria Bruni have “stepped down ” from F1 to race in GP2.

My question here is:  though Pantano did not officially complete a full season in 2004 with Jordan, Bruni did complete a full season that same year with Minardi.  Does anyone know why that exception was granted to Bruni?  Was there a special loophole that Coloni took advantage of to put Gianmaria in one of their cars in 2005?

Not that he would want to, but we all think that Kimi could not race in GP2 because of the current series regulations.   But, now that he has announced a sabbatical from F1 for 2010, wouldn’t it be awesome to see him battling it out with the younger guys in the GP2 Dallaras?

Well I was trying to find the paragraf in the sporting code for GP2 but wasn’t able, wat’s the exact sounding, it might be that drivers who scored points in F1 can’t compete

but I’d rather see the paragraph first 😛

Article 19 in the 2009 Sporting Regulations:

      19) DRIVERS AND CHANGES OF DRIVER
19.1 Each team must have nominated its two drivers to GP2 at least 10 days prior to the first Event, GP2 will then publish a complete list. Any driver who previously won the GP2 Series Championship or any driver who completed a full season in the FIA Formula One World Championship will not be permitted to participate in the Series.

Maybe it wasn’t in the 2005 or 2006 regulations?

It’s apple and peaches or what the equal expression is in English the loophole here is probably completed, one may argue that you have not completed a whole season unless you finished all the races which bruni didn’t

in the other case of Hampions the regulations are more clear, if they are indeed trying not to get retired F1 drivers into GP2 the paragraf should read “all drivers that have started in all races during a Formula 1 season is not illegible”

Where do you get the rules from?
I could never find neither the technical or the sporting rules!
It would be nice if you post or email a link 😉

    Thanks, I thought it’s “secret” 😛
Their site has so little information, at least they have tons of pictures.

I agree… the GP2 Series site could do less with so much flash and a bit more in content. Just my opinion but they have a weak e-strategy over there.

They have to up their game considerably on this department, the live-timing never worked, you don’t get reports from all the teams, there isn’t much timing information… It’s just good looks and nothing more.
