Ocean confirms Chilton and Leimer

The GP2 Series has confirmed via twitter that Tiago Monteiro’s Ocean team has signed IFM champ Fabio Leimer and Briton Max Chilton for the 2010 season.
The team had been eying Leimer since the end of the season, finally putting a satisfactory deal together to sit the promising Swiss driver in one of its cars. The other driver of interest had been American Alexander Rossi, who apparently has stepped backed from GP2 due to budget constraints, and may be looking into a 2010 GP3 season instead.
Max Chilton seemed to be headed for Barwa Addax, with whom he’s racing in the GP2 Asia short-season, with his family linked to a possible shareholder tie-up with Alejandro Agag’s team. He must have found enough budget from 2010 drivers van der Garde and Perez to forgo the Chiton option. Chilton is a less-experienced driver who may find the jump from British F3 to GP2 a bit steep.
All the best to both drivers… we will see them battle it out in the Asian series in the meantime.
