Valsecchi takes Asia title; great show from the GP2 veterans

Close racing between Davide Valsecchi,  Luca Filippi and Javi Villa  at today’s GP2 Asia feature race in Bahrain – finishing in that order – and  sealing the title for the Italian iSport driver as Oliver Turvey failed to score any points.

Great race from Ricci, once again competitive in his DPR, as well as Pic and Alvaro Parente in his GP2 comeback with the Coloni.

Polesitter Jules Bianchi had a terrible start, a slow stop and was never fully able to recover, his ART seemingly losing its edge in the last 10 laps of the race.   Adrian Zaugg pulled off a great race, putting his Trident in 8th place which puts him on pole in tomorrow’s sprint race.  Sam Bird stayed in the top 8 all race, eventually dropping off (just like his teammate), and losing position to both Zaugg and Turvey.

Results from Italiaracing:

1 – Davide Valsecchi – iSport – 34 laps 1.02’05″149

Great race by Valsecchi, Ricci and Zaugg.

Could someone tell me how the title is already decided(atleast mathematically

we have 3 races left plus one pole that’s 35points, right?

    Valsecchi has 45 Turvey/filip has 16, 16+35=51, ricci has 13, 13+35=48 Villa has 12, 12+35=47

    what have I missed 😀

don’t get me wrong I don’t think anyone is catching him just couldn’t get it right in my head

    cheers

  3. GP2 Blog says:

There are only 27 points to score. A potential 7 tomorrow and then 20 at the next race, so the most Fillipi or Turvey could score is 43.

  4. sauber11 says:

    6 for win tomorrow + 1 point for fast lap = 7
And 2(pole)+10(win)+1(fast lap)+6(win)+1(fast lap)=20 points for gp2 weekend , read last round in march.
So its 27 points max, not 35. 8 points difference => you may counting second race win as 10 points, but it costs only 6. 🙂

P.S. Meritus sucks , second race in a row they destroy Rossi race. Wish he stayed at Ocean.

ah right that’s what I forgot 😀 cheers mate saved my head a trauma night
