GP2 drivers make up 50% of the F1 grid

With the 2010 F1 entry list published, and this morning’s confirmation of Karun Chandhok at HRT,  a total of 11 GP2 graduates will be racing in F1 this year – 48% of the grid.  If to this we add the F3000 guys, quasi-GP2 grads, the number is 16 drivers, or 67% of the grid.

2 teams – HRT and Virgin – are made up only of GP2 drivers.  GP2 champs in F1 are Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton, Timo Glock and Nico Hulkenberg.  Only Giorgio Pantano is missing to make it a full sweep.

The relevance of GP2 is clear, but the numbers make it overwhelming.
