Ricci shines in final GP2 Asia race

Giacomo Ricci has done it.  After an impressive Asia season, he has taken his first GP2 win and the first for DPR in several years (remember Olivier Pla’s Sunday wins?).  With Piscopo not making it to the grid, Ricci was first to turn 1 and never looked back.  Sam Bird closed an ascending GP2 Asia season with a strong second, while Parente put his Coloni on the podium, showing he is one of the best drivers still available for a GP2 drive in 2010.

    Bianchi is gonna have to step his game up if he wants to challenge for the Main series titel.

    So that’s it? Is the end of the use of the Dallara GP2/05 chassis as many suggested? (How I like to have these cars on South America to form a local series…).

    Dallara surely will sell them of somewhere the question is if anybody would want them, we all know the reliability of the gen1 cars are very poor. Maybe if they did a small upgrade package for example use of the GP2/11 electronincs etc.

    These 2005 Dallaras are actually owned by the teams themselves, including the Mecachrome engines. By comparison, the 2008 chassis is owned by the teams and the engines are leased.

    You could probably broker a bulk purchase deal through Bruno Michel, but as Patrik mentioned, these cars are notoriously unreliable not as easy to maintain, especially the Renault engines.

    Add these GP2 cars to the A1GP Ferraris, the A1GP Lola-Zyetks and the Panoz CART cars available in the market. Many cars for nice one-make series, but an expensive and overcrowded market already.
